Aged Care Hunter Valley

Why consider aged care in Hunter Valley

Australia’s Hunter Valley is known internationally for high-quality wines, though this reputation belies its richer and more varied characteristics. The townships of Maitland and Cessnock are each adjacent to the major city of Newcastle (see our separate page), while Dungog, Muswellbrook, Scone and Singleton add agriculture, tourism, hobby farming and natural bushland to the region’s offerings. These centres are all well-served by road and rail transport to Newcastle, and from there onto Sydney. Health, hospital and aged-care services are readily available throughout the region, including 24 hour emergency departments in the larger centres.

  • Population (as at 2022): 300000
  • 91% Australian citizens and 19% aged 65 or older
  • Nearest large hospital – Maitland Hospital: 339 bed and 24 hour emergency
  • Wide range of therapies as well as specialists and support services across the region
  • Public health via Hunter New England Local Health District.
