Windsor Aged Care Services
Windsor Aged Care Services joined Alzheimer’s Queensland late 2012. This 61-bed home offers “Ageing in Place” across its two traditionally designed buildings called Palmer and Thorne.
The décor is classic and traditional providing residents with a home-like feel. Windsor offers a mixture of accommodation comprising of single or shared bedrooms with ensuites. The open plan at Windsor allows ease of physical and visual access to optimize everyday living experiences, promoting independence and mirroring home life. Both Thorne and Palmer cottages have sun-protected outdoor entertainment areas for eating, relaxation or connection to the outdoors. We have purposely designed raised garden beds, chicken coup and a butterfly house for families especially grandchildren to enjoy time in the gardens with their grandparents. At Windsor, all meals are freshly prepared on site daily and the home cooking allows the smells and activity to create an environment reminiscent of every day home life.
Windsor’s unique lifestyle program offers a range of group and individual activities for residents including cooking, music programs, art appreciation, art classes, and flexibility and fitness sessions. Wellness and enablement at Windsor is also reinforced through access to a range of specialists such as geriatrician, physiotherapist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, and podiatrist.
All residents benefit from our staffs distinct knowledge, skills and expertise in dementia care. Our staff undergo regular training in dementia care to ensure that their skills are maintained and that their care reflects our underlying philosophy based on the value and individual choices of our residents. Furthermore as a nursing home for dementia, Windsor has 24hour registered nursing on site to support complex care and medical needs of residents who may need a higher level of care.
