Keeping with the St Agnes’ Care & Lifestyle philosophy of ‘Ageing in Place’ a dedicated dementia-specific program operates at Emmaus. Developing social skills and verbal interactions with others is essential for those diagnosed with dementia. This is a home where all Emmaus staff value and care about the residents, encouraging them to take part in targeted activities which often decrease challenging behaviours. Specially trained dementia care teams design person-centred care strategies and use effective communication to promote the social, emotional and physical welfare of residents with dementia.
