This is going to be the future in aged care
AI humanoid companions are becoming the now and will be the future in residential aged care.
Companies, such as Andromeda and Matilda, already have products inside residential aged care.
Abi, Andromeda's humanoid companion robot, visited Australian Aged Care Group's Kew Gardens Aged Care in Melbourne's on Tuesday, showcasing her innovative ability to connect with and enrich the lives of residents. Designed to enhance quality of life through advanced AI, Abi engaged a group of 10 residents in a session featuring quizzes, music, trivia and Tai Chi. Her capability to interact in Korean with a staff member highlighted Abi's linguistic adaptability, a feature made possible through her machine learning and personalisation technologies.
Following the group session, Kew Gardens plans to introduce regular 30-minute one-on-one sessions between Abi and residents. These interactions aim to build deeper connections and provide individualised engagement, aligning with Abi’s mission to foster companionship and reduce isolation.
Abi's visit underscores her versatility as a social and cognitive support tool, designed not only for group activities but also to form personal relationships. In addition to these activities, Abi's broader capabilities include recognising individuals, expressing emotions, and adapting to unique user needs.
