Rutherglen VIC to get upgraded public aged care home
A new aged care home is on the way for Rutherglen, in northeastern Victoria near the NSW border, with plans unveiled by the Victorian Government for a modern $57.1 million facility.
The new 50-bed home, which will replace the existing 40-bed Glenview Community Care Nursing Home, will have private ensuite rooms for every resident, a dementia-friendly design, and communal areas including a community room and sacred space for residents.
According to Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Anthony Carbines, the new home – scheduled to begin construction later this year and be completed by 2025 – is part of the Victorian Government’s investment in public aged care across the state.
“We’re upgrading our aged care services to provide modern, purpose-built facilities – and most importantly, deliver the care older Victorians deserve.
Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes says the new home will provide a big boost to the community.
The 2022-23 Victorian Budget poured an extra $142 million into upgrading public aged care facilities.
