Neighbour Day on March 30 reminds us of the power of connection

Neighbour Day, a national initiative from Relationships Australia, aims to strengthen social connections within communities to help combat loneliness and isolation.
This year, Frasers Property Australia is partnering with Relationships Australia to mark the 100th anniversary of creating communities, with events planned across the country to celebrate the day.
Frasers Property’s national communities will host a variety of inclusive events on and around Sunday, March 30, designed to bring people together. These activities offer opportunities to forge new connections, deepen existing friendships, and simply enjoy each other’s company.
“Our core purpose is to create a sense of belonging within our communities, and this requires addressing one of the most pressing challenges facing Australia today: loneliness,” said Cameron Leggatt, CEO of Frasers Property Australia. “Through our partnership with Relationships Australia and the events we’re hosting, we’re taking concrete steps to make a meaningful difference.”
Frasers Property’s community development teams, stationed at each of its locations, oversee a wide range of events throughout the year. These activities aim to foster social connections, create warm, welcoming environments, and promote resilience and well-being. In collaboration with resident champions, these programs make the most of local amenities and encourage a sense of belonging.
“For us, Neighbour Day is about more than just one day – it’s about creating a culture of connection and support that extends year-round,” Leggatt added.
This year’s Neighbour Day theme, “Create, Share, Grow Belonging,” encourages Australians to strengthen ties within their neighbourhoods and beyond. Nick Tebbey, National Executive Officer at Relationships Australia, stressed the importance of this campaign.
“Neighbour Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of social connections in our lives,” Tebbey said. “Research shows that engaging with our communities improves mental well-being and reduces loneliness. With nearly one in three Australians reporting feelings of loneliness, this initiative has never been more significant.”
