Aged care nurse’s handbag stolen as she lay dying after terrible car smash
Kay Shaylor, a 62-year-old aged care nurse from Umina Beach on the NSW Central Coast, devoted her life to helping others, but it failed to prevent two lowlifes robbing her as she was trapped in the wreckage of her car at North Gosford.
Ms Shaylor had been heading to her job at the Chamberlain Gardens nursing home at Wyoming on September 3 when she was hit head-on with another car. She later died in hospital from her injuries.
It’s alleged Jason Richard Allan Hall, 42, and Silvia Maria Schreuder, 44, stole her bag from the crash scene during the emergency effort to save Ms Shaylor’s life, and used her credit cards and cash to make an array of items after her death including food, alcohol, cigarettes and a fishing rod.
Ms Shaylor reportedly became an aged care nurse after making several foreign aid trips and volunteering at an overseas orphanage.
Bianca Harrington, a L-plate driver, has also been charged with a range of driving offices over the fatal crash, including dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death and driving while suspended.
The 20-year-old woman was refused bail after allegedly telling police that she has smoked "five bongs" and had “no idea” what she had been doing the night before when she got into her car to drive from Sydney to the Central Coast.
